A Season in Pictures: Wii-Free Swordfighting

We didn't bring the Wii out to the Rockies on our recent visit to my folks'; instead, we decided to make some swords!

There they are: from left to right, Destroy, Sting, and Anduril, Flame of the West. Owen did the writing, and was very happy with the results:

Very neat! They would get along with my son, who has a vast collection of weaponry made out of duct tape, cardboard and foam insulation!

Cristina, not a week goes by that doesn't involve some sort of cardboard/foam engineering around here, good thing the grown-ups enjoy it too :-)

Very cool! I've seen some neat weapons made with duct tape and those foam pool noodles, too. Cody and Mike have made a number of swords out of 2x4's (but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have one for yourself, too! LOL)

Homemade toys are so much fun! It must have been a great trip.
